Design Workshops - Meblościanka "2008"

The design is most closely inspired by the traditional wall unit set in form, but also fulfils the following assumptions: it is easy to manufacture, generally available and reasonably priced. It is interesting to note that the designer duo, who are not a couple, strive to achieve goals similar to those realised by the Kowalskis, i.e. the married couple of designers who created Poland's first wall unit set. The main idea behind the design is the mobility of the set. Each vertical module is packed into a box and purchased from a furniture store in this easy-to-carry form. The system resembles the matryoshka nesting doll, one of the iconic objects of the Polish People's Republic era. The wall unit set consists of five modules, i.e. five boxes. The design’s innovativeness lies in the use of modern finishing materials, including the Dibond composite. The wall unit set is an openwork structure filled with several geometrically arranged boxes – vertically opening cabinets. The design has been selected for production by Vox. “The design is an “Ode to the Wall Unit Set”, inspired by the classical model of the Kowalskis' set”.
